Italian president to visit Cyprus

The President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, is making an official visit to Cyprus this week.

Mattarella, the longest-serving President in the history of the Italian Republic, will be accompanied by representatives of the Government and a large delegation.

His visit is considered by Nicosia to be very important, as it is the first visit by an Italian President since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

As announced by the Government Representative Constantinos Letympiotis, it is part of the twenty-year anniversary of Cyprus’s accession to the European Union, but also the anniversary of the fiftieth anniversary of the Turkish invasion in 1974.
