Minister laments abuse of Cyprus health service

Abuse of the GESY system is the biggest problem plaguing the health sector in Cyprus and must be addressed, the Minister of Health, Michalis Damianos said during an interview on Monday.

Speaking to Radio 3, Damianos said that the problem can be dealt with by efficient checks and exemplary punishment.

However, he noted that despite the fact that such punishments have been imposed recently, more work is needed on in this area.

Wrapping up, Damianos said that if abuses are stamped out, the level of services provided by GESY will rise.

GESY is the universal health insurance system of Cyprus established in 2017 .
