Concern over delays on Cyprus LNG terminal

The main opposition AKEL party has expressed ‘great concern’ about delays in the ongoing Vasiliko project, a liquified natural gas (LNG) terminal on the southern coast of Cyprus.

A series of disputes and disagreements has held up the much-vaunted project.

When complete, it is reported the Vasiliko terminal could significantly reduce electricity generation costs.

Stressing that the project is of critical importance for energy security and sufficiency in Cyprus, AKEL called on the government to find a way to complete it, since the delay in the arrival of natural gas costs households and businesses dearly.
