France: Knife attack leaves one dead

At least one person was confirmed dead and another one seriously injured in a knife attack Wednesday evening in Bordeaux, southwestern France, according to the French newspaper Le Figaro.

The attack took place at around 8 p.m. in the Miroir d’Eau area, near the Gironde city center. A man was seen slashing two people with a knife. A source with local police said it was assumed to be a brawl.

The suspect was killed by police officers deployed to the site.
