Heatwave grips Cyprus, orange and yellow warnings issued

Cyprus remains in the grip of a heat wave Friday.

A yellow warning is in effect until 7am, as the minimum temperature inland is not expected to fall below 27 degrees Celsius.

From 11am to 5pm an orange warning will be in effect.

It is expected that the temperature inland will rise to 44 degrees today.

The Department of Forestry says the risk of forest fires erupting and spreading remains at the red alert level.
