Call for UK- north Cyprus flights, 54 MPs sign letter

The British government should allow direct flights between the northern and the UK, a group of 54 British politicians have urged.

According to Cyprus Today, the request was set out in a letter to Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron and signed by, among others, senior figures from the Conservative, Labour, Democratic Unionist, Liberal Democrat, Green, and Reform UK parties.

According to the report, those that signed include Iain Duncan Smith, the former leader of the Conservatives and Jack Straw.

Flights to the airport in northern Cyprus are banned internationally due to the ongoing Cyprus dispute. Non-stop flights only take place from Turkey, and all planes that fly to northern Cyprus from other countries have to stop over in Turkey.
