Mini heat wave in Cyprus sparks ‘yellow warning’

After a glorious weekend, it will be mainly sunny on Monday, with south-westly winds over moderate seas.

With weak high pressure affecting the area, temperatures are set to rise to 40C inland, 34C in the east, and 31 in Paphos.

The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for extremely high temperatures which will be in effect from 12.30pm on Monday until 3.30pm the same day.

It will also feel warm in the mountains with highs of 30C. There is a chance of some light dust in the air.

The week will remain warm, with temperatures expected to creep higher by Wednesday.
