Cyprus lauds Egypt’s role in Mediterranean security

Egypt’s role as a crucial factor in promoting stability and security, especially in the Eastern Mediterranean and North Africa region has been highlighted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos, in an interview with the Egyptian newspaper Al Ahram.

Ahead of his two-day visit to Cairo, which begins tomorrow, the Foreign Minister also emphasized that Cyprus and Egypt are determined to achieve the maximum possible cooperation in the energy sector, although for commercial and not political reasons, this cooperation moves in some cases, more slowly than both countries would like.

Kombos also highlighted the importance of the tripartite cooperation mechanism Egypt-Cyprus-Greece, while underlining the high level of EU-Egypt relations.
