Decrease in irregular immigration to Cyprus from Lebanon

The Lebanese television, LBCI, in an extensive report on immigration, reported that in recent weeks there has been a decrease in irregular immigration to Cyprus, as a result of the stricter measures adopted by Cyprus.

According to the report, the Lebanese Intelligence Service recently intercepted a boat that was going to the coast to pick up Syrian refugees, while another boat was intercepted by the Lebanese Navy.

The result of the measures, according to the LBCI, is that the traffickers’ efforts are currently failing and prospective migrants are now unsure about paying people traffickers.
