Cyprus: Price increases recorded in a range of consumer products

Price increases were recorded in a range of products during January, according to the Consumer Protection Service.

Compared to December, vegetable cooking fat increased by 16.7%, flour by 11% and almost all frozen foods by 10.4%.

However, a decrease was recorded in vegetables (24.3%), sugar (12.4%) and fresh meat (7.9%).

Last week, the European Commission’s interim winter forecast noted that Cyprus was expected to experience further growth in its Gross Domestic Product this year, combined with a slowdown in inflation.

Figures show the island experienced a slight uptick in inflation last month, with a 1.7 percent increase compared to a 1.64 percent rise in December.
